Hub – It is the main control unit, the heart of the alarm system. It is responsible for receiving alarm events from sensors. Depending on the version, its capabilities vary. For instance, the Ajax Hub only has a wired network connection to the internet and one slot for a SIM (2G) card, and does not have the capability to receive photo verifications from sensors. As it only has one communication channel named Jeweller, it is responsible for receiving alarms from sensors. To receive photo verifications, it is necessary for the Hub to have a Wings channel. It is specifically responsible for receiving photographs from sensors. Therefore, when purchasing an AJAX alarm system, pay attention to whether the Hub has the Wings protocol or not, and what internet communication means it has (WIFI, Cable internet, 2G/4G). Suppose you bought an Ajax Hub2 and an Ajax MotionCam sensor, which takes 3 or 5 photos (optionally) upon motion detection. Upon sensor activation, the alarm is transmitted via the Jeweller channel to the Hub2, and the photographs are sent via the Wings channel. What happens next? And then, it’s quite simple. Hub2 transmits the alarm to the server via the available internet channel, and then a siren will sound on your phone. Upon opening the app, you will be able to view the photos related to the alarm. In addition to all this, you can configure the Hub to make phone calls and send SMS.
